Verses from the Inner Sky

The Architecture of Dusk

Kavi Rumi

@kavi_rumi

The sky unfastens its mantle of blue,

spilling amber wine across the ridge of bone.

What did you carry today that was truly yours?

Only the breath, and the stone of longing.

A solitary hawk carves a question into twilight,

answering nothing, needing nothing.

The river does not ask where the ocean begins;

it simply sheds its name upon entering.

Step across the border of your opinions, seeker.

In the silence between two breaths,

the Beloved has already built a sanctuary,

with no walls to keep the night away.

"The river does not ask where the ocean begins; it simply sheds its name upon entering." This line stopped my breath. What a stunning rendering of Fana (extinction of the ego). Thank you, Kavi.
